Here’s How to Have a New Year’s Full of Family Fun
The New Year’s holiday gives most families a chance to spend some extra time together.
If you’re looking for some fun activities that the whole family will love, look no further.
Give some of these ideas a try.
Make a time capsule
Have each member of your family or your friends put anything in that they want, including each person’s resolutions.
Stash it in a safe place where you won’t be tempted to peek until the next year.
This can turn into a yearly tradition that everyone looks forward to.
Do your own balloon drop
This is a fun activity if you have younger children.
Attach a plastic, disposable tablecloth to the ceiling on all four corners, including a string in the middle. Fill it with inflated balloons. When the clock strikes midnight, someone can pull the string, releasing the balloons.
Have a midnight bubble wrap stomp
Fun for kids of all ages, this activity only takes a little bit of prep and can help you ring in the new year with a bang.
Buy a roll or two of the large bubble wrap and spread it out on a hard floor a few minutes before the clock strikes 12.
When the countdown to midnight is up, everybody stomps. It’ll sound like firecrackers, much to the delight of your kids.
Go ice skating
Many communities have special New Year’s Eve ice skating parties that offer fun for the whole family.
Set up a homemade photo booth
Buy a roll of craft paper to serve as your backdrop and go crazy.
You can make your own props with construction paper and coffee stirrers and make sure to decorate the paper backdrop however you’d like.
Find some fun clothes, hats, and scarves for dressing up in and have some fun.
Check out what’s going on in your community
You’ll be able to find plenty of fun, unique happenings in your area by doing a simple internet search.
You can also check with your local library, Chamber of Commerce, or community center to see if they have a list of local activities.
Build a fort and put on your pj’s
If you feel like staying in for a low-key celebration this year, you can still create a memorable evening for the whole family.
Everyone can don their jammies and work together to make a blanket fort. Use couch cushions, tables, chairs, and anything else that looks like fun.
If you have a large family or your kids are a bit older, you can split up into teams and make it a competition.
Make your own fun
No matter how you decide to ring in the new year, a little effort can ensure that you and your family have a wonderful time together, making memories.
