GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER COMPANY PRODUCT SERVICE BULLETIN

The purpose of installing winter tires on a vehicle is to gain additional traction, handling and stability when driving through inclement weather.

Winter tire tread designs, regardless of construction, exhibit different handling characteristics than the normal All-Season tire tread designs now used in most vehicle applications.

In order to optimize the handling, stability and traction of vehicles equipped with winter tires Goodyear makes the following recommendations:

  1. It is recommended that winter tires be applied to all four wheel positions.

  2. If winter tires are installed on the front axle of any vehicle, they must also be installed on the rear axle.

  3. Studded tires, if used must be applied to all four wheel positions. With studded tires, please refer to local and state laws regarding the use of studs
    (see PSB 2006-31).

  4. Never apply non-radial winter tires on the rear axle if radial tires are on the front axle unless the vehicle is equipped with duals on the rear axle.
